Regulatory Compliance
Last updated: July 2026
NexuzPayz is committed to operating responsibly within applicable financial crime, consumer protection, and data protection frameworks. This page summarises our compliance approach. It does not constitute legal advice and does not replace product-specific disclosures or partner terms you accept during onboarding.
1. Regulatory approach
We provide financial technology services in Ghana and are expanding across Africa. Our Services may involve regulated activities conducted by licensed partners — including payment processing, virtual account provision, and identity verification — while NexuzPayz operates as the technology platform connecting users and merchants to those rails.
We engage with regulators and industry bodies in markets where we operate and adapt our controls as licensing and regulatory guidance evolves.
2. Know Your Customer (KYC)
Before granting full access to wallet and transfer features, we require identity verification including:
- Collection of government-issued identification and supporting documents.
- Verification of name, date of birth, and address where applicable.
- Ongoing monitoring and re-verification when risk indicators arise.
- Terms of service acceptance with regulated partners where required.
Merchant onboarding includes business KYC: legal entity verification, beneficial ownership information where required, document upload, and admin review before live API keys are issued.
3. Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
Our AML programme includes:
- Risk-based customer due diligence for personal and merchant users.
- Transaction monitoring for unusual patterns, velocity, and sanctions exposure.
- Investigation and reporting of suspicious activity to relevant authorities where legally required.
- Employee training and periodic review of policies and controls.
- Record keeping in line with applicable retention requirements.
4. Sanctions and politically exposed persons (PEP)
We screen users and transactions against applicable sanctions lists and PEP databases through our verification partners. Accounts or transactions that match sanctions criteria may be blocked, rejected, or reported in accordance with law.
5. Merchant compliance obligations
Merchants integrating our Collections API agree to:
- Use the API only for lawful goods and services in approved categories.
- Provide accurate business information and maintain current KYC documentation.
- Verify webhook signatures before fulfilling orders.
- Cooperate with investigations into fraud, chargebacks, or regulatory enquiries.
- Not process transactions on behalf of undisclosed third parties without approval.
6. Consumer protection
We disclose fees before transactions are confirmed, provide transaction histories and statements, and offer support channels for disputes. Users should verify recipient details before sending irreversible payments, especially crypto transfers and mobile money payouts.
7. Data protection
Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We implement access controls, encryption, and vendor due diligence for subprocessors handling personal or financial data.
8. Reporting concerns
If you suspect fraud, unauthorised activity, or compliance concerns related to NexuzPayz, contact us immediately at support@nexuzpayz.com. We take reports seriously and may suspend accounts pending investigation.
